In an effort to gain new B2B customers and greatly increase market share, an electronic health record company in the Home Health industry identified a complex scheduling opportunity to pursue.

For the discovery phase of our research I conducted four design thinking workshops and several contextual inquiry / user observation sessions to gain insights, witness pain points and identify opportunities.

Jobs To Be Done
I used the JTBD framework to synthesize all of our research. The focus centered around the Scheduler, Care Providers, and their jobs to be done.

Vetting Designs
Initial concepts were shown to multiple stakeholders, SMEs and a number of current and prospective clients. Both day views and week views of employee schedules have been received extremely well.

In house schedulers immediately saw the benefits of a seemingly busy schedule page, such as:

  • Identify gaps in employee schedules

  • Easily drag and drop appointments from one employee to another

  • Manipulate multiple filters to alter data display and save filter sets.

  • See who’s schedule is blocked
